finally!!! we've been back home for a couple days now but i feel like we're just finally settling in. i asked hubbs if, although we're home, we can pretend we're still on vacation and do absolutely nothing all day but laze around and eat like pigs... but nope. he wasn't going for it. so in good ol' amber fashion (did you know that was my name?!), i worked on processing over 800 pics while dh unpacked our bags and did all the laundry. lol, it's like i was still on vacation ;)
the trip was absolutely amazing! this was our 3rd time there so nothing new but still so very much relaxing and perfect in every way. luke was an angel the entire trip. our 2-hr flight there turned into a 4-hr+ flight (yep, stuck on the plane for over 4 hours!!!) and luke didn't make one peep. he was more into flirting with all the women and soaking up the attention than sleeping and/or fussing. we prayed and prayed that he would do ok and he actually did better, we were so relieved!
it was a long day of traveling and we finally made it to the resort after 9pm and Luke was a champ the whole way. everyone kept raving about what a great baby boy we have and i couldn't agree more. i owe this kid. it was the same on the trip back. a true champ!
the trip itself was very mellow. we pretty much lounged around all day and only left the resort once to go on a submarine excursion (which luke LOVED!). everyday pretty much looked like this (for luke and for us, lol): wake, eat, nap, pool, eat, pool/beach, nap, eat, pool/beach, nap..... i'm sure you get the gist.
8 days of pure relaxation and bliss, we never knew what time it was and just went with the flow. the only hiccup was luke having a hard time adjusting to his mexican crib (lol, for some reason i love saying "mexican" and "mexico," just probably still amazed that my boy has a stamp in his passport, that he even HAS a passport, at 9 months!!!). the first night he woke every hour until the 4th time i took him to bed with us and he slept for 5 hours. by the last night, though, he was sleeping 8-12 hours in the crib and was going to bed by 7pm (his normal bedtime is 8:30 and cabo is 1-hr ahead). he's a pretty light sleeper so i think that, because his mexican crib was so creaky squeaky, every time he tried to roll over the noise would wake him up and startle him. because he went to bed so early we slept him in the living room so we could have a "life" after 7pm in our own space. it was a nice setup, it worked except for the times i stubbed my toe on the ottoman and/or couch when i would rush in half-asleep when he'd cry in the middle of the night. oh and the mosquitos... another hiccup... for me anyway, since the boys were fortunate enough to not get a single bite (i, on the other hand, came home with 13-14 lovely bites all up and down my arms, leg, back and butt! why do they like only me?! whatever, i was grateful that they left my little boy alone.
remember those 800+ pics i mentioned above?! well, no worries, i won't force you to see all 800 of them... but here is the first installment. lol. i'll only post once more with the second half of the story (which, again, looks exactly like the first but any excuse to plaster more pics of my handsome little boy all over the internet... i'm there ;)
fair warning... picture overload ahead!
he would just stare, so content
had to hit up wal-mart for necessities (beer and snacks ;)
he ate solids from home for the first half of the trip then it was food from our plates.

love that pout! daddy wouldn't let him eat the sand, he was pretty upset...
giving dad the stink eye...
sneaking in more sand, one last time.

"yum! sand!"
"ahhh, this is the life!"

I'm a wife to the most kind and loving husband ever, a mother to two of the most beautiful baby boys you'll ever meet (Lucas, DOB 8/29/09 and Logan, DOB 12/20/11), a children's social worker by day and a photographer by night (more like, weekend). I love to bake and only cook because we need to eat. If I relied on my dear hubby to cook for us, we'd be eating bean and cheese burritos or quesadillas for dinner every night! There are so many things that I love, but most importantly, I love being a wife and mother and this is the place where I can document our life, mostly in photographs, today.
What an amazing trip! I've been dying to see photos -- bring on the "overload," I'm loving it! :)
