Day 2 of our trip...

And I miss my boys SO much that I've already told Trev I'll never do this trip (or any other trip!) again with one of my babes so young!! Luke, I know, is having a blast and is fine, Loges on the other hand, is just a little babe, what does he know other than his mommy and daddy aren't with him, cuddling and kissing him :( I know he's fine, too, that this is probably harder on me than either one of them but dang, it's really hard!!

Last night, about 11pm, we were walking through a smoke-filled casino, my throat and eyes suffering from all day exposure to the fumes of nasty cigarettes, when Trev leans over and says, "dang babe, did you see that woman pushing a 6- month old baby in a stroller? The poor baby's legs were all sunburned!" It was all I could go but turn around and gouge the woman's eyes out. I started to cry, thinking about how stupid people are!! And that poor baby. Wondering if she was suffering. I realize that having and missing my own 6 month old just put a huge pain on my heart. Really, I couldn't stop thinking about that poor baby all night. What the hell is WRONG with people?! And I don't regret not running after the woman, what good what that have done other than get me arrested?! I mean, a mother who has her infant child in a smoke-filled casino out at 11pm clearly has no sense! Seriously, what is WRONG with people?!

I can't wait to get back to my babies tomorrow night and shower them with hugs and kisses!!!

Vegas or Bust!

i honestly didn't expect to feel this sad after dropping off the boys at grandma Sheli's. this is the first time we've ever spent the night (make that three nights!) away from Logan and the first time Luke has ever spent more than one night away from us. i feel like my favorite pet just died :( while the hubbs is scratching lotto tickets, getting in the Vegas mode, lol. i know the boys will be fine, Luke will have a ton of fun and Loges will be showered with so much attention and love that i'm sure he'll barely miss us!!

as of Friday i've completely wean Loges from the breast (if my breasts would just get that memo now!). he seems to be completely fine with it, which of course makes it easier for me! formula is a new experience for all of us!

speaking of new experiences, Loges ate his first solid today, Oatmeal!! he seemed to like it just fine. i gave him a few spoon fulls before he started rejecting it, he opened his mouth and swallowed it down just fine, even reached for the spoon and bowl a couple times, lol.

i originally wanted to start him with avocado, like we did Luke, only the past few days it seemed as though 6 oz of formula, every three hours wasn't cutting it for him so i thought maybe he'd appreciate a more hearty solid to start ;)

i plan on cooking all his food and will use wholesomebabyfood.com as my go to guide for info and recipes. it was a pretty easy, good experience making all of Luke's baby food so i don't see why i couldn't do it for Logan, aside from the not having any time thing, there's only that ;) we'll see, i'm pretty lax when it comes to rules with our second one, lol. i thought i'd be more heartbroken that i've thrown in the towel on breastfeeding at 6 months, but eh, i'm kinda diggin' this bottle-feeding, powdered-formula convenience. pack, shake and go, i like it!

what else?! oh, so i was supposed to weigh in tomorrow for my first weekly check-in. well yeah, that isn't gonna happen. i injured my foot last week while working out so i've had to lay off the gym so my foot could heal (as much as possible) before our Vegas trip. i still walk with a limp and my left foot still hurts, but it's a lot better. i hope to get back to working out as soon as i get back from Vegas. i'll be back for the first official weigh in next Monday (and won't expect too much since i'll be throwing back margaritas like no ones business for the next few days!).

i miss my babes SO much but look forward to a fun trip away!!!

Fat tummy

If I use the word tummy, it's not as bad, right?! Denial! Until I hit the gym, jump on the stationary bike, throw that baby in level 1, start to pedal... And immediately start to cringe when I feel my belly hitting my thighs!!! Seriously! Instead of being embarrassed (because surely every fit guy and girl behind me is looking at me thinking, "uh, yeah honey, better crank up that resistance!) I'm going to document this day (of disgust) so I can reference back in a year and feel so proud of how far I've come :)

How's that for motivation?!

And it's Fat Stomach! I'm definitely not as cute (or as trim!) as my little boys who have tummies ;)

Day 1

it begins today. day one of working out at the gym (where i can be competitive with the stranger on the treadmill next to me, haha) and eating healthy. my goal is to not get too obsessed with either (contrary to my nature), but to work towards a healthier, leaner (who am i kidding, not even my ankles are lean at this point! and fingers, forget it!) lifestyle.

i'm fortunate that i have an amazingly supportive hubby who has encouraged me to start weaning Loges from breastfeeding (a decision that did not come easy) so that I can start taking care of myself, making myself a priority, too! no more morning nursing, instead i hit the alarm on my iPhone at 4:15 am, close my eyes for another 5 minutes and then jump out of bed to start layering the sports bras (right now i'm at 4!!!) before leaving the house at a quarter to 5 where i meet my friends (either at the park for a jog - more like walk) or the gym. today is actually day three of working out but day one of making healthier eating/food choices.

i really should take a before photo. i've already taken measurements and weight (which i'm at my all-time high, but that's ok, more reason to change that, right?!), but maybe a monthly photo check in will help with motivating me to keep on truckin'.

i'll be sharing my weekly weight loss here. as competitive as i am (even with myself), i'm going to take it slow and aim for 1-2 lbs a week. i'll never go back to counting almonds (like i was doing when i met Trevor almost 8 years ago), lol, so i do realize i'll likely never get back to my Sydney Bristow-esque figure (bummer, i love her, she kicks ass!). things have changed for me over the past 8 years, i don't have the 3 hrs+ a day to workout in the gym and plan every single piece of food that goes into my mouth.

i'm scared and excited. scared that i'm going to get completely obsessed with this (which i've already warned Trev of, which he's saying, at this point, is fine... we'll see how long he can wake every morning for those 5am feedings without feeling resentment :)and excited about being healthy!

i want to be able to run and play with my boys and not complain that my feet or back hurt. i want to be able to throw Logies up in the air and not throw my back out. to be able to sustain a day at disneyland... more importantly, i want to be here for them when they're older, healthy... without having to take medication to make my body work "right."

i'm sharing here because it's the beginning for me and, in all honesty, i need to hold myself accountable. and now you know. i have to come back here and share my success... because i will not fail... i can do anything i want to do... right? haha. of course i can ;)

My babee and I

i was cuddling with Logies, almost time to get ready for bed and I asked hubbs to grab the camera and just start shooting... these are two of my faves

and this is what big brother, Luke was doing, haha

in the first photo you'll see Luke was laying behind/next to me.. he jumped up when he realized hubbs had the camera and was shooting Loge's and I, haha, Luke is quite the ham when he's not the spotlight of attention!

i love my babes

So we decided to take a trip...

withOUT the kiddies! remember how i've been saying, for about two-three months now, that Logan sleeps through the night?! Well, yeah... not so much anymore! it's like he KNOWS we're planning on skipping town for a few days next week (to Vegas) and is laying it on thick! i mean, come on Logies, the mommy guilt is already there! it's as natural as breathing, so c'mon Logies, GO TO BED ALREADY!!!

it now takes about an hour to get him down at night; from swaddling, to nursing, to burping to rocking, jeez! as much as i love getting to cuddle with him, spending an hour in relaxing, peaceful baby-snuggling-bliss is quite exhausting and as soon as i'm getting him into bed, i crawl into my own and am out like a light!

and now i'm worried that i'm leaving a harder-to-manage baby with my mil.. of course not that she can't handle it, she once (ok, more like three times) told me that she rocked all three of her children every.single.night until the age of two, i mean, jeez, if my hubby still fit in her lap... haha. she really is amazing!

any how, YAY VEGAS! as much as i will surely miss my little munchkins, i am more than looking forward to getting away with the hubbs! sometimes a week goes by and i don't feel like i've even seen him!

and to make this post more exciting, some Logie bath-time fun!

he's still so little but getting so big! boo! (and making sure his little bits aren't all on blast, haha)

 such a stud!
poor baby has been teething bad (drooling, can't sleep, biting me - OUCH!) for a month now!
and the $1,000,000 smile! seriously, what bad day?! i should rent this kid out just to brighten days ;)

have i mentioned that we're going to VEGAS BABY?! haha. and the #1 thing i'm most looking forward to? SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT! waking on my own terms. drinking a margarita because i don't have to rush home and nurse the Logesters (i'll still be pumping a few times a day, boo, but i really don't want to complain about that! i'll just carry on with my priority to-do list:

1. sleep
2. nap
3. margaritaville
4. nap
5. black jack
6. sleep

and any activity that doesn't involve sleeping, yeah, i'll have a margarita in my hand ;)

I'm so proud of myself!

No, like really!! Like more proud than graduating with my master's! I took a 4-hr intro to sewing class and voila! I know how to sew!

Well, not really. I was able to spit an awesome superhero cape out for Luke, though! And I plan on sewing 15+ more for all the kiddies invited to his superhero birthday party coming up in September.

And let me tell you, this was NOT easy! The perfectionist that I am, I had to let a lot of that go or else this project would've never been finished!

Spiderman is his favorite!

and it's reversible!!!

Side note on birthday parties; I used to think we'd only celebrate the milestone birthday's (1, 5, 10, etc.)... until I had kids! Every year just brings that much more excitement because Luke will actually enjoy his party! He still remembers that his last birthday party was a Kachow (Lightning McQueen) party (it's too bad you haven't seen the photos or you might remember, too!).

It's amazing to watch the progression from thinking of the kind of mom I'd be once I had kids... to the kind of mom I am, so far! I find myself eating my words quite often and boy, do those words taste good ;)

Logan's 4 & 5 month update...

yeah, that's how i roll! two months of updates in one.. because if i keep putting it off, i'll be so behind that i won't be able to catch up! so, while i don't have any super cute, super posed, super awesome "month-day" photos, i have words that i'll soon forget and candids that will continue to make my heart melt for years to come (i can only imagine!).

at 4 months...

*weighs 16 lbs 3 oz and stretches 26" long. he's definitely not squishy like Luke was at this age but his length is surprising!

*is growing out of size 6 month clothing! his length more than anything.

*can roll over from back to tummy (his first time on 4/17/12, three days shy of 4 months!)

*giggles up a storm and finds anything his big brother does HILARIOUS!

*his hair is barely starting to grow, haha, Luke already had a mane by this time!

*just has the sweetest, calmest personality ever!

*sleeps through the night from about 9-9:30pm to 6-7am.

*is starting to get ticklish in his neck and sides <3 *sucks on his fingers/hands, drools like crazy (Luke never did this) and can go 4-5 hrs without eating now (still EBF). *bats at toys, reaches for things (faces, toys, etc.) *starting to mind when we enter or leave the room here's a snapshot of him at 4 months (the only photos i took of him this month, sad)

Yep, he's still swaddled!

at 5 months...

*weighs 17 lbs 3 oz and stretches 26.5" long (Luke was almost 19 lbs and only 26" at this time!)

*is wearing size 6-9 month clothing and size 3 diapers (size 3 diapers since 3 months)

*is rolling over back to tummy/tummy to back like no one else's business!

*his hair is noticeably growing now.

*full on laughs hysterically at any crazy thing his big brother does! Luke will do something, like jump off the bed, that will cause us to scold him but before we even get the chance, Logan is already laughing his pants off! they're going to best buds for sure!

*starting to wake anywhere from 2-4 for a middle of the night feeding, boo! he's still EBF (though I think of quitting every day!).

*he takes a pacifier too well (started that about a month ago) and also still sucks his fingers. poor baby, teething is really bothering him :(

*takes great interest in several toys

*can definitely tell when we enter/leave the room (and now starts to cry if i enter and he's hungry and/or cry when we try to leave the room! it's so cute and sad at the same time!

and here's what he's up to this month

Lips ♥

Toes ♥

he's into sitting up big time now, only he doesn't do it so well on his own yet :)

who knows, maybe i'll surprise you (and me!!!) and come back soon with some real photos of Logi Loges! that's his official name around here, Yogi Yoges to be exact ;)

and then there's this ♥
